We at Alpine Bank have pledged to you that we would work tirelessly to prepare to accept applications for the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program (SBA PPP). We have done that, and the SBA has done the same such that we can now access SBA processing portals, and we now believe we are ready.

So effective at 10:00 AM, Sunday, April 5, 2020, Alpine Bank will begin accepting applications for SBA PPP. Please be advised that the SBA has changed all of its application documents, and as a result, new application materials will need to be completed. According to the SBA, applications submitted with outdated application materials will be declined – NO EXCEPTIONS.

ALSO, as a reminder, this program is only available to Alpine Bank business customers of record as of end-of-business on Friday, April 3, 2020.

Information on requirements and eligibility, along with application materials for the SBA PPP, may be found at the U.S. Department of the Treasury website

To apply for an SBA 7(a) Guaranty under SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) through Alpine Bank, please complete the following:

Resources to complete the application materials:

  1. SBA Loan - CARES Act - Document Checklist:  Compile support documents items: 1, 2, 3, and 4, as needed.  At a minimum support documents items: 1 & 2.  If you plan to include retirement benefit and health care benefits, we will need support documents 3 and 4. These items will help you calculate the figure needed to complete the attached application.
  2. Please thoroughly complete the application and initial, sign, and date where indicated. The SBA has been clear that only COMPLETE Applications can be accepted for processing. If, in the sole discretion of Alpine Bank or the SBA, materials received by Alpine Bank are deemed not to comply with SBA PPP Application Requirements for complete Applications, then such materials will be deemed invalid for SBA processing and returned to the sender for completion and resubmittal. In the sole discretion of Alpine Bank or the SBA, only materials meeting SBA Application Requirements will be deemed an SBA PPP Application. Complete Applications ONLY are eligible to enter SBA processing queue. Incomplete materials will have no standing nor processing status or priority.  Incomplete applications may be rejected by the SBA. 
  3. Once you have completed the above steps, please send your application materials to the Alpine Bank Relationship Officer you have been working with on this PPP, or securely send the following items via email to [email protegido].
    Note: Please do not zip files prior to sending.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: Both the SBA and Alpine Bank’s processing team continue to work on more effective processing solutions, so transmission instructions and requirements may change without notice. PLEASE be sure to check this page on Alpine Bank’s website to re-verify application submittal instructions and information. Due to processing challenges with the SBA system, receipt of complete Applications by Alpine Bank is no guarantee that said Applications will be processed. Alpine Bank will continue to make good faith best efforts to process received applications, but Alpine Bank cannot accept responsibility for the functionality of SBA assets and resources. At this time there is no available solution to allow applicants to track the status and progress of completed applications.)

The SBA will make the final determination on PPP 7(a) Guaranties approved, PPP Loan terms and PPP Loan forgiveness. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Amongst the many unanswered questions for this program, the SBA has not established the closing loan documents it will accept. As such, Alpine Bank is not yet able to close transactions for which it has received SBA PPP 7(a) Guaranty approvals, NOR CAN IT FUND SAID TRANSACTIONS. Funding for SBA PPP transactions will occur only after SBA has established the documents it will accept for doing so.

So as of the published time of this memo, Alpine Bank's primary objective is to make best efforts to secure SBA 7(a) Guaranties for applicants under the SBA PPP as is possible…BUT there is NO guarantee that all applications submitted and processed will receive SBA PPP 7(a) Guaranties. Alpine Bank will be working under a good faith assumption that SBA will provide SBA PPP 7(a) Guaranties for as many applications received as possible. A completed and submitted application is no guarantee that an SBA PPP 7(a) Guaranty needed to fund your loan will be approved.

Please be aware that many important questions about this program remain, and Alpine Bank continues to do its utmost to get answers to these questions. As a result, there is reasonable probability that this program, application materials and processing may change without notice.

Alpine Bank COVID 19 Deferral Program

The program works as follows:

  1. Alpine Bank will defer your loan payments. This does not mean that you do not owe the payment (including interest); it simply means you are not obligated to make payments on the loan for the next 90 days.
  2. The impact of the deferred payments—including the interest that accrues on your loan—will be applicable to your final payment (or when it pays off, if in advance of the loan's contracted maturity).
  3. After 90 days, you will be expected to resume normal payments. If you do not feel that this will be possible or will need other accommodations, please discuss with your loan officer.
  4. If currently escrowing for taxes or insurance with your loan payment-we ask that you make the escrow payments during this time period. If you do not feel this is feasible and are unable to make the escrow payments, when payments resume they will be applied to the outstanding escrows due prior to being applied to any interest or principal.
